Answer for: Invent a New Profession

#1 Summoner

A spell caster that specializes in creating animated minions to do his/her bidding, be they demons, golems, undead, etc...

An example would be the existing GW minion master. Though they specialize in creating undead minions, a blanket summoner profession would allow for more diversity in this area.

I think that the summoner shouldn't be limited to only corpse control. They should have many summons (perhaps an attribute optional) for non-corpse summons, like a dragon: it flies in, deals massive AoE dmg, and flies away.

I completely agree! I was attempting to suggest that summoners would be able to summon many different things, and was using Minon Masters as an example... sorry if it was confusing ;)

Well, they have something of a possible precursor in the Asura Summons skills. If you left spirits and minions (and maybe demons) to the necro/rit/occultist class, this class could specialize in other summons. You could have different types of summons based on attributes. So one attribute could summon elemental creatures like djinn (elemental summoning) while another could summon creatures like the mursaat and naga shaman (creature summoning), etc..

The Asura summons in EotN aren't actual beings, but rather "an Asura Summon is a result of Asuran technology designed to imitate the creature they resemble," (http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Asura_Summon) so you can really use that template to create a whole host of possibilities and still maintain a game balance fairly easily.

I like the idea of a blanket summer. In GW 1 I use the Ritualist profession and have at times used Rit/N builds to try and increase the amount of "cannon fodder" to bring to bear in a fight. A blanket summoner would be really great!

Thanks for suggesting...

Crap concept, that isnt needed..GW2 will most likely have already everything that is needed about Summoners.

if ANet is wise and merges the Necromancer and the Ritualist together to form out of both the Occultist, then the Game iwll have a summoner class for everything unholy, undead and evil..so Undeads, Demons and Ghosts/Souls...

Give then the Elementalist the ability to summon Elementals and elemental Monsters, then there you have your normal "Summoner"...

Now get us the Knight, who could have the ability to command "Mercenaries" and we will have even a kind of untypical summoner that no MMORPG has seen before and would be similar to the gameplay maybe of the game Chaos Legion from PS2, where your Knight commands "Legions" and for everythign that has to do with Animals and mythical creatures, therefore is the Ranger there...

so absolutely no need for an extra spell caster summoner, as everything is done with the existing classes, btw could be doen with them...
