It would also be interesting if they could have small battles with each other.
If they did this as a side game like the polymock, it would give some off-of-the-story activities.
POK E MON!
This would be helpful to players but I do not think they should automatically pick up any items in aggro range because there are a lot of items I would prefer not to pick up. I also think that the minipet should have its own carrying capacity that would allow it to just carry the items and not take up inventory space.
The problem with this idea is the player being able to grab items that are in the middle of a group of enemies and not be in any danger.
Overall I think this is a great idea and would be helpful to a lot of players.
NO COMBAT MINIPETS
picking up loot is a good idea but combat minipets will just make the game more confusing..
they are already adding companions (insert rant here)
I personally don't agree on this idea at all. It is true that minipets are pointless now as they are. But why should they have a meaning? If you want a meaningful pet then roll a ranger and put points to beast mastery.
It would be far more simple to create an auto loot command similar to Sacred 2. After a big battle I can just press "Q" and my character will pick up all the items close by according to the filters I'm using (as in, pick magic items starting from the blue value, ignoring grey and white crap).
The thing I hated most about filling up HoM was the minipet part. The only 2 pets that actually made me feel...something, were black moa chick for the trouble I went through and celestial ox since I got it from my 5th lunar fortune. After I got those 2 pets all by myself, they were growing out mold in my xunlai chest.
In WoW I had a white kitten which was kind of cool but again: nothing more than a "cool rare pet to brag with".
People shouldn't be forced to getting minipets.
You don't have use the feature if you don't like it. You are not the only one playing this game.
I think what Feline is saying is that, you should be able to loot everything anyway without the use of a mini-pet. And if you could then the mini-pet feature to pickup loot that you missed is unnecessary.
They are just luxury items. Let's leave it at that. Im ok with furthering the polymock thing from EOTN, but that's just some side thing you could do if you wanted to collect more mini-pets. Got to catch 'em all! :p
I definitely like this idea. Many times I wished my heros and henchies could have picked up my gold and items for me.
What about minis giving a bonus, like +1 to a certen skill or +10 to health or even +5 to energy, Nothing game altering but enough to help out.
I think this would be a great idea, plus I would like to be able to have more than one mini in use at a time, possibly by use of a special skill or item that allows you to use more at a time as you advance its attribute. Also I think it would be cool if my minis could do some low level fighting, not making it confusing but just giving simple options like in Fallout 3 with followers,e.g. "Use a range/melee/caster weapon/skill" , "Fight the same enemies as me/fight different enemies for me" or giving them the ability to run up and aggro a certain enemy or group of enemies for me, its so annoying when I'm farming and I accidentally aggro 3 groups of enemies, but they're so small the enemies don't notice them apart from the enemies I want to, then they run back.
Also, they can't die, but only deal low level damage and skills.
Minipets should not have any function. They are fluff, that is all.
Auto looting mini pets would put legitimate players on even ground with BOT users for one in my life time. And it might offer a solution to those rares that like to drop in unobtainable places like inside rocks, tress and/or behind way points.
