Answer for: What other MMO's have you played?
#16 AION: the Tower of Eternity
Have you played the Beta?
Aion is a visually stunning massively multiplayer online RPG where you ascend to divinity and fight in an epic celestial war. Wielding divine powers and the capability for true flight, you must bring salvation to your people and restore balance to a vast, beautiful world shattered by cataclysm.

That sounds interesting, could you give some details on cost, playability, specifically if it has a monthly fee, i've been spoiled by guild wars and now can't afford many subscription based games.
all is to be found at;
http://eu.aiononline.com/en/
The monthly fee is set to be roughly around $15,--
I hear you about the monthly cost but I think it is worth it this time around allthough I commented in feedback if it was possible to lower it or make a earn-in-game-to-play kind of system.
We sure are spoiled with GW & GW2 will be free-to-play so...
I liked the Beta that much that I pre-ordered the Limited CE.
I played the beta and found this game to be a bit of a grind wtih way too much hype pushed into the flying feature. True, I didn't get past level 20; but, you don't earn your wings until level 10. From level 10 to 20 there were very few parts of the game where the wings could be used, even though the emote was always available (and pretty). I never got to play PvP because that isn't available to characters at level 20 (I think 25 is where it kicks in). I was able to fight other characters in duels; but it was hard to find players of a similar level to duel with. Most players used the dueling system as a way to pawn noobs and rank up quickly, rather than a way to test builds or face real challenges.
Most WoW players I talked to really loved Aion. Most GW players in the game were not as impressed as WoW players.
The interface was very much like that of GW1. In fact, I changed my settings to match those I use in GW as much as possible. Having done that, I found the targeting system to be inferior (choosing distant enemies even when I used the "target nearest enemy" command). Pathing was also wonky: AI NPC could navigate around deadly cliffs while auto targeted PC attacking in pursuit would not. I'm sure this collision lameness has something to do with enabling the gliding and flying features of the game; but, it's still inexcusable.
Aion has a lot of backtracking and no way of quickly navigating the world that does not require some form of game cash transaction. This forces grinding to earn cash to move from area to area. It also limits map travel to those with big pockets. There are also several elevators and conveyor belts built into the transit system that can literally take minutes to catch, ride and return on. While you wait for these things there is nothing for your character to do but chat. The idea of paying a monthly fee to play a game that actively forces me to waste time like this is ridiculous.
As you might have heard, gold sales and other lame forms of spam grief the chat system to the point of crippling it.
On the plus side, the crafting system was very broad and I loved being able to craft items and sell them remotely while I was off doing quests. It was always a joy to be in the middle of hacking a mob when I received a message telling me I just sold 2000K worth of crafted items. The in-game mail messaging system was also a wonderful addition to the game experience. Character creation and refinement were very fun too. After playing GW, it was nice to see a world where everyone looked different.
