Has there been an official mention
of G.W. 2 since Feb '09? (Done

It seems as though, to me at least, that NCSoft and Anet have redirected all of their resources into Aion, to be released this fall. GW2 does not appear to be on their radar at all, at least that would be the impression left on me by a lack of updates for the last 4+ months and the vagueness of the last update that said "it'll be done when it's done". While that sounds like they are working hard to some on making a great product, it sounds to me more like they are saying "this way we don't have to provide a date and can see how Aion does before deciding if we want to finish GW2" ... Am I alone in thinking GW2 is a dead product until Aion's release is determined to be a success?

Nope. They're just not even close to finishing the game. It just seems like it's taking a long time, since they were forced to tell us about it earlier, because all of their team is working on Guild Wars 2, and if they had just stopped updating Guild Wars 1, and not told us why, I think that most fans would be even more P/O'ed than most of them are now. Aion has nothing to do with the release date. It has been confirmed that the one and only reason Guild Wars 2 has not had more details released/screens/vids is because it's not ready to be shown. (Or rather, it's not at a sufficient level of polish to get the reaction they're looking for.)

Even if Aion fails, NC Soft can't simply stop making games. GW2 is practically a gold mine waiting to happen, so if there were trouble it might rush the release of the game and compromise its quality but not delay its completion. Besides, Aion and GW are not made by the same production staff, they only share a parent company. Even if Aion fails, that will not directly compromise funding for GW2. The only way of stoping GW2 from coming out would probably be if NC Soft simply went bankrupt.
